​"I served 42 years as a professional law enforcement officer, Special Agent and Executive leader in local, State and Federal positions to include 15 years as an agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and 21 years in the Senior Executive Service for the United States Treasury Department and the Department of Homeland Security. ​I was appointed the FLETC Director in 2002. We met in 2014 at a Private Sector Security Conference he hosted in Washington DC. The focus of the conference was private sector security and improving coordination and resiliency across the homeland. At the conference, Russ inspired me to partner with him to build a one-of-a-kind leadership academy for senior executives who need specialized Homeland Security training to respond, in tandem and seamlessly, with their peers in high threat environments. As a result of his initiative and leadership, we created a new and innovative approach to public/private training. His vision was to build the first joint Public Private Partnership Academy (PPPA). Participants at the conference were Mall Executives, Mall Security Directors and local law enforcement Chiefs, Sheriffs, SWAT Team Commanders and other public safety executives. The agenda included terrorism awareness, weapons of mass destruction, improvised explosive devises and crisis management and leadership. The program was a tremendous success. A second program was held at the FLETC Training Center in Charleston, SC in 2017. I know Russ to be an innovative and knowledgeable expert in private and public safety and security. He is a highly respected leader, speaker and security analyst. He is highly skilled in organizational strategic planning, program implementation and measuring program results and cost effectiveness."
